As Gail and Maryse prepare for perhaps the most important match of their respective careers, they must shift focus from the gauntlet just completed to the challenge ahead. A victory for Gail would propel her into rarified air indeed as one of only four Divas ever to have held both the Women’s Championship and the Divas Championship. Were the conceited Canadian to prevail, the win would mean her second reign possessing the Butterfly Title.

How the match will play out is anyone’s guess, however, it should be noted that, as of late, Maryse has shown uncharacteristic sportsmanship toward her opponent. Whether her sentiments are genuine or simply a ploy to gain psychological advantage remains to be seen. Stay tuned.

Over at Natalie-Neidhart.net, Natalya answered some fan questions that were sent in. One of the question’s related to herself and Maryse (which I asked). Here is what she had to say:

Have any funny times with Maryse when you and her partnered alot on Smackdown?
Nattie: We loved to cheat and we both agreed that I was the Best Canadian! HAHAHA! My nickname for her was Poodle, because she reminds me of a French Poodle.

Prior to the Royal Rumble PPV a 10-diva Tag match took place which Maryse was apart of. It was Alicia, Jillian, Natalya, Maryse, and Katie Lea vs. Bellas, Eve, Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly.Kelly Kelly picks up the pin on Alicia Fox, with a flying cross body from the top rope. The match will be a bonus feature on the Royal Rumble DVD so we all will have to be sure to pick that up to see our girl!

Another year has gone by and it’s time to celebrate Maryse’s birthday again! Today she has turned 27 and everyone here at Oh! The new year has started off on a sour note for Divas Champion Melina.

After suffering an injury in a match on Dec. 29 in Manchester, N.H., Melina underwent an MRI today, which confirmed that she tore her left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Due to this, she will be out of action for six months and have to forfeit her Divas Championship.

This unfortunate setback brings an end to Melina’s successful reign as champion, a title she has held since she debuted on Raw on Oct. 10 as a part of the Tri-Brand Diva Trade.

With the Divas Championship now vacant, an Eight-Diva Tournament to crown a new champion will begin on Raw tonight. Maryse will face Brie Bella in the first match of the tournament.

In WWE creative, the reaction is that they are not worried about Impact (nor should they be), but are very interested in what happens. They are absolutely baffled that the only two matches where the participants have been advertised ahead of time are women’s matches. There were jokes told in the last few days of putting Maryse out ever time the women are on the show just to prove 1 Diva could beat all of their women combined.

This would be amazing for Maryse as she would get lots of TV time. Also, rumours are arising that current Divas Champion Melina has possibly torn her ACL, nothing has been confirmed yet as stated on our sister site Melina Unlimited but if it is a torn ACL, there is a high chance that Maryse could be winning the title very soon as Melina may have to forfeit it. We shall keep you updated when more news is heard.

A few weeks ago, Maryse Oullet made her return to Monday Night RAW after an injury had put here out of action with a goal to regain the Divas Championship. She’s hoping her chance will come at, or not too long after this weekend’s WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view. SLAM! Wrestling had a chance to sit down with la femme belle days before the big show.

Though she isn’t scheduled to appear on the show, which emanates from San Antonio Texas, and will be broadcast in Canada on Viewers Choice, Maryse is excited about the event. As its name suggests, it will be heavily-laden with gimmick matches.

“I would say it will be a pretty hardcore pay-per-view,” she predicted. “It reminds me a little bit of ECW, what they were doing a little while ago.”

In keeping with the theme, matches will include a Ladder match (Christian defending his ECW belt against Shelton Benjamin), a Chairs match (Batista versus Heavyweight Champion the Undertaker), a TLC tag team championship match (Jerishow vs. D-X), and a Tables match for the WWE championship match, where newcomer Sheamus takes on champion John Cena.

That last match is the one that Maryse says she is looking forward to the most, as she’s a fan of Sheamus’ in-ring style and also of his look.
